K&Company Paper Bundle and Sticker Giveaway

Two giveaways in one post! AH!! Sorry I missed yesterday, but I was finishing a project. Overextended me. Typical. Let’s see what this giveaway is all about.

I love paper… not for scrapbooking (mentioned before) but for just about any other type of paper crafting. These sets from K&Company just get me in the Christmas mood.

They’re cute background for these little gifts for my kids’ Sunday school teachers. This was a Pinterest inspiration, but I pieced together the gift bag. (Teachers, if you’re reading, would you skip the picture or cover your eyes. Sorry for ruining the surprise.) All you need are clear party favor bags. I cut the scrapbook paper into 3-3/4″ x 9″ strips, folded one end twice to make a little bag “bottom”. Stuff into the party favor bag and place your goodies.

Here are the last of my giveaways… two pretty sets of K&Company specialty paper (double-sided!) and accessories, and then two sets of Jolee’s Stickers. All these products are available at art and craft supply stores like Michael’s. Follow the raffle instructions below… and if you would prefer NOT to enter through Rafflecopter, just e-mail me at jtiu(at)comcast(dot)net with “K&Company raffle” or “Jolee’s Christmas sticker raffle” in the subject line. Good luck!

Snowflakes Paper Punch Mini Review and Stamps-Stickers Giveaway

Last week I was playing around with EK Success Snowflake Layering Punch. It’s a dream to use on cardstock, scrapbook paper, even cardboard cereal or snack boxes. I tried it on thin kraft paper and while it punched out a shape just fine, I found the paper too thin and some paper ripped. No fault of the punch. I wouldn’t use it on tissue paper or crepe paper for the same reason. The snowflake punch is available online and in most craft and hobby stores.

EK Success Snowflake Layer Punch

The great thing about the paper punch is that you get three different shapes from one punch. You slide a lever for the shape you want. Why would you want all those shapes? You could layer them and get a nice dimensional doo-dad to stick onto a card or scrapbook page.

In my case, I dressed up a plain wrapped gift for my nephew with the punches… I’m trying a minimalist look with kraft paper and yarn. I don’t knit or crochet, but somehow I’ve dug up a few skeins of yarn around here. Weird. But, look, it’s simple and festive. Make your wrapping thematic with any paper punch, or color of yarn.

Along the lines of snowflakes, how would you like to win this gift pack?

Snowflake stamps and stickers

It’s from the same fine company who makes the snowflake paper punch… and I really appreciate EK Success for giving me the opportunity to share these cool supplies with you. (Approx. value $45) Just follow the instructions below. You’ll have to comment for a chance to win, and entries will be taken until midnight, 12/15/12. Thanks!

Jolee’s Boutique Stickers Giveaway

Jolee’s Boutique Christmas dimensional stickers

When I was a little girl, I could not have enough stickers. I would save the stickers off of fruit and produce from the grocery (you know, I’m talking about Chiquita bananas). And, now that I’m all grown up, I still love stickers and they’re also very grown up… Jolee’s Boutique has the cutest and some of the most elaborate stickers I’ve ever seen. They give some great dimension craft and paper projects.

Plain paper tags get dressed up so easily. And, since I’ve been doing some bottle cap art lately, how cute would some of these be in a little bottle cap frame?

So happy to offer three sampler packs, friends… just follow instructions and don’t forget to leave a comment! Good luck!

Craft Product Review and Giveaway: Needle Felting Kit

Now that Halloween is over, are people onto Thanksgiving or are most people skipping it all together and going straight to Christmas? I know, I love Christmas too, but with Thanksgiving there are so many projects on my “to-do list”. Check it out. Aren’t these needle felting kits cute? They’re from Dimensions Needlecrafts. I love the woodland animal feel of the hedgehog and pony.

I’m working on this little guy:

The kit comes with step-by-step directions, 100% wool (all the amount you need), two felting needles, and a felting mat. In some kits you’ll also have embroidery thread, an embroidery needle, molds and/or stencils. If you’ve never felted before, this intro video by Dimensions shows the basics.

I thought this would be a fun project for me and my daughter, but 1) she thought it took too long, and 2) I was nervous about her using the felting needle. It’s sharp!  And because it has small barbs near the point, you can imagine that you don’t want to stick yourself accidentally. I have to say, the wool feels nice and is workable into a firm felt shape. The felting mat is a nice quality – think dense foam. I’ve seen some felting mats that look like hair brushes. Not sure how that works out. The mat gives a nice surface and lessens the chances of sticking yourself.

Felting needle comes with cover

So, I would say this particular kit is not exactly for kids (though my daughter is ten years old and a pretty darn good crafter). The instructions are very easy to follow… felting just takes time. We’re not quite done with our project yet.

So, make some time, grab one of these kits at your local craft store or online at Dimensions Needleworks for $10-$25, OR (and I’m so excited to share this!) enter to win one of the kits I’ve shown here! I’m so thankful for all the support this year from friends and readers… let’s kick of November with a giveaway! I have one hedgehog kit, one snowman kit and one pony kit to give away to three readers.

  • Snowman and hedgehog kits retail value, $9.99; Pony kit retail value, $24.99.
  • Prizes furnished by Dimension Needleworks (EKSuccess Brands™).

Just follow below for chances to win one of these needle felting kits! Good luck!

P.S. I feel like I ought to apologize for not sharing Halloween projects with you.  I admit, I didn’t visit the craft store once before Halloween. It’s just never been a huge holiday for my family, but I’m happy to report that my sort-of-anti-Halloween daughter has turned a new leaf and had lots of fun with her girl pals last night. As for my son, he brought in a haul! His friend and he had a great time trick-or-treating.

Giveaway Monday: Craft Critique and Story Time for Me

Ten days until Thanksgiving, and amazingly, my family will be eating our traditional Turkey dinner at my brother’s new home. In the meantime, I’ve been working on some gifts inspired by these selvage edge pincushions. We’re also preparing for our annual cookie exchange which is happening in less than a month!

On more exciting levels, I have two links to share. The first is Craft Critique… it’s Martha Stewart Week. Find out about the new products and follow the executive staff this week during their crafting adventure in the Carribean with the Martha Stewart Craft Department! Win your own Martha Stewart Scoring Board by checking it out today…

My second link  I’d like to share is Story Time for Me, a very unique  literary website with interactive picture books for toddlers and elementary school-age children. We’re big readers here at home so I was excited to have an opportunity to review two books, and I decided to try it out with my four-year old.

The site is easy to navigate and also includes an instructional video. While exploring the available book series, I appreciated that they included appropriate age levels, running time of stories and a chance to preview the books. However, when selecting one of my free stories, I accidentally chose one thinking I might be able to “remove” it from my cart. No such luck. The story itself was good (“Ben Celebrates Chinese New Year”) but my four-year old didn’t like it as much as “Ben’s New Friend”. For him, there was actually a “laugh out loud” moment during the story. I did like that the stories had good lessons, and while the stories are read out loud, the words are highlighted (an option you can turn on and off).

For my virtual neighbors, readers, followers, and friends… I’m excited that Story Time for Me is offering a product giveaway of two complimentary multimedia storybooks for kids ages 1-8. If you’re interested, check out the Story Time for Me site and leave a comment here sharing your thoughts (I’d appreciate it if you followed along via Google or Blog Frog). Most importantly, be sure to include your info so I can send you the code you need for your two free storybooks. This offer has no expiration date at this time.

There is also a Teachers Grant Program in which the company is providing every teacher nationwide two children’s books for each of their students.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to hearing about your experience and have a great week!
