Mugshot Monday: Arsty Fartsy

Mugshot Monday: Sept. 2, 2013

This was a quick photo of my mug on Monday (Rae Dunn. Love her work.) and my favorite art supplies.  No matter how much I enjoy most forms of art and crafts, I think it always comes back to drawing. It’s so portable, so easy. I had a big rediscovery about six years ago with doodling and Zentangles. But right now, I have a love affair with drawing and sewing.

If you’re into art and crafting, I’m curious about what all you readers enjoy using… day-to-day, maybe once a month? Do you make time to create?

In other “news”:

School finally started last week. No tears to report, and everyone got to school on time.

I’m looking forward to crafting and exercising more often.

So excited about reorganizing the website (and my house).

Can’t wait to do a brain core dump and write down all these ideas that have been floating around in my head.

Mugshot Monday: Concert Hangover

Mugshot Monday: After Maroon5 concert

Recovery after a phenomenal concert

What. A. Concert.

This was a belated wedding anniversary gift to each other. I admit, this was probably more for me than the hubby… I mean, I ♥ Maroon5. Like since the beginning.

The production was done incredibly well. Kudos to Kelly Clarkson’s crew, Maroon5’s team and Honda Civic Tour. And, I can’t complain about ringing ears and the super late night when there was non-stop music from KC and Maroon5. Made me feel like I was in college again (never went to concerts when I was in high school).

But, lack of sleep is going to make for a lllllong day. Time to hit up the green tea.

Mugshot Monday: Regrets

Monday Mugshot: Regrets

PROMPT from A Year in the Life of an Art Journal: If I could take it back… Regrets. Everyone has them. What is yours? Do you have more than one?
SHOOTERS: Shoot your least favorite mug.

Gotta say, I love all the mugs in our house. So, this hot-cold cup represents my least favorite mug. Like something you’d find at the hotel with the coffee maker in the bathroom, which usually includes my least favorite coffee or tea. (Over this past weekend, we were at a hotel and that pic would’ve been perfect!)

And, as far as regrets go, I try not to look at my life choices like that. Once I started understanding that my life is mine to build, to create, it became easier for me to own my choices – good and bad. Everything is a stepping stone

Do I have regrets, though, yeah probably. Like maybe I could have lived in the city after college? Hardly a deep regret. ☺

Mugshot Monday: Returning to Schedules

Mugshot Monday: August 12, 2013

I’m pooped. This picture is pretty much before bedtime… I get to read a little bit (in reality, it’s looking a pretty pictures) and sip some warm tea from well-loved travel mug from my former life.

It’s been an amazingly mild (weather) summer and I love being able to spend time with my whole family, but it’s also getting to that point where everyone should be going back to regularly scheduled stuff – like school and work. (I’m sure y’all know what I speak of.) My work that awaits: crafting, volunteering, and a new writing adventure since both my kids will be in school all day. Before we know it, the holidays will be here. (GAH, I need to start working on Christmas gifts???)

We have one last little trip to visit family (wedding time!) and then my hubs goes back to work, kids will follow in a week. Time to get back-to-school teacher treats ready!

Mugshot Monday: The Bright Side

Mugshot Monday: The Bright Side | Kawaii drawing

Not a lot of sunshine here yesterday, and the weather has been so mild for summer. It’s been so mild that last weekend it felt like football weather – sunny, crisp breeze, and downright chilly in the evening. Even my daughter said, “It feels like, like, October.” It’ll be harsh when the temps go past 80 degrees later today and tomorrow – my kids start complaining. The bright side… I’ve been in drawing-and-doodling mode lately. (Check out some of my drawings at Instagram.) And in my mug is a blend of green and black tea with notes of vanilla and fruit (Mystic Moons and Madagascar Fine Bourbon from TeaLula).

I could have taken a picture outside, clouds and all, but I was preoccupied with preparing for my husband’s parents coming back to town for a week. Nothing refreshes a dormant house like opening up the windows and a good cleaning.

So excited to have our young niece around too… she’ll get lots of attention from her big cous’.
